Something to do this week — and somebody to do it with.
Pick something you would actually enjoy. When somebody else wants the same thing, a room opens and you pick what and when. You do not have to be good at it, and anyone can start at the position they are in. Plans run from $10 to $26 a month — you pick the one you want.
What do you feel like doing?
- ♟️A game of chess that takes the whole evening
- 📖The same book, on the same night
- 🍲Cooking something, and somebody tasting it
- 🎸Playing until you finally get it right — with somebody who hears it
- 🌌Looking at the sky at the same hour, from wherever you each are
- 🔭Whatever the telescopes found this week
- 🎓Learning something neither of you knows yet
- ✈️Building a model, one piece at a time
- 🌿The first new leaf — and somebody to tell
Or write your own. The list is examples, not a menu.
And you get better at the things that matter to you.
There is a question almost nobody has ever been asked: what can you do today, without it being a struggle? Not what you managed once. Not what you think it ought to be.
That is the position you are in today — and you can have one for anything you actually care about. Your strength. Your speed. How far you can walk. How flexible you are. Your memory. How quickly your mind moves. An instrument. A language. Almost anything you would like to be better at.
You write down where you are today. Then you move it, at whatever pace is yours. The only thing measured here is you, last month — never another person. Nothing here keeps score, and a week where you go backwards is part of it, not a failure.
And somebody else is doing the same thing alongside you. That is the part that makes it hold.
How it works
Three steps, and we walk you through every one of them.
1 · Welcome to the general room. Choose an activity you would like to do — as many as you like. You do not have to be good at any of it: anyone can start at the position they are in. We look for somebody who wants the same thing, and both of you have to say yes — always. That can happen in minutes, or it can take a while.
2 · While you wait, join something already happening. There are activities running right now. Walk into one — you are never sitting still.
3 · When you are matched, you have a choice — and both answers are right. Stay in the activity you are already enjoying, or leave it and start the one from the general room. Whichever you prefer, entirely up to you, and nobody minds either way. If you do step out, just say why — “I have been waiting for this one” is enough.
A room opens, you pick what and when, and before you part you plan the next one — with something new to try. Many activities only need two people to begin.
And you do not have to remember any of this. From the moment you arrive we show you what comes next — one step at a time, at your pace.
There is nothing to live up to
You do not have to look like anything here. Not young, not tidy, not interesting. Nobody uses their real name — not you, not them — so there is nothing to keep up, and nothing to be measured against. You just know they wanted the same Thursday. What you write to each other is sealed with a key only the two of you hold, so not even we can read it. And it does not have to stay that way. If the two of you get somewhere together and you both want to, you can tell each other who you are. Nobody decides that but the two of you — not on any timetable, and never us.
And then there’s the next thing
Nobody is only one interest. The person you play chess with probably isn’t the person who wants to try the bread, and neither of them is the one watching the same meteor shower. You can have several going at once, and you should — a quiet week in one is just a quiet week, not the end of anything.
And it doesn’t run out. There is always another thing worth trying and somebody who has been meaning to try it too. That part never finishes.
